August 24th, 2009Derrick Rose Can’t Read
May 28th, 2009
I take that back he can probably read, just not that well. Yesterday, the NCAA alleged that the University of Memphis Men’s Basketball Team committed major violations throughout the 2007-08 season, which included their participation in the 2008 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship. One of the allegations brought forth by the NCAA is “knowing fraudulence or misconduct” on an SAT exam by a player on the 2007-08 team. The players name have been removed from the report released to the commercial appeal, but any Tiger fan can figure out that the unknown player is Derrick “I ate too many Gummi Bears” Rose who was the only player on the 2007-08 team who only played for the Tigers during that one season. The University of Memphis is scheduled to appear before the NCAA Committee on Infractions on June 6 in Indianapolis. While he was not mentioned in the report, the NCAA has requested John Calipari’s presence.
From Miami to Memphis
April 21st, 2009From Miami to Memphis and no I’m not talking about another collaboration between Rick Ross & Yo Gotti. I’m talking about the fact that Will Coleman, the 6-foot-9 Junior from Miami-Dade Community College, is going to honor his letter of commitment and play basketball at the University of Memphis next season. “I’m sticking with my commitment,” said Coleman after speaking with new Memphis head coach Josh Pastner. Coleman, who is ranked as the No. 2 Junior College Basketball player in the nation by JucoJunction.com, has a game much like that of former Memphis standout Joey Doresy. Let’s hope that some of Pastner’s recruiting skills have rubbed off on Coleman and that he is able to convince teammate Darnell Dodson to play at Memphis as well.

FedEx Cuts 500 Jobs in Memphis
April 4th, 2009It was announced Friday that Memphis’ largest employer, FedEx, cut 1,000 jobs from its work force including 500 positions in Memphis. This is particularly interesting to us at FCalipari.com because earlier this week, FedEx CEO, Fred Smith, was one of the alleged boosters throwing money at John Calipari in an attempt to keep him at the University of Memphis. We all know how that story ended.

April 3rd, 2009He Is Angry, But Not Angry Angry …
April 2nd, 2009A University of Memphis student who goes by the name AceofSpadesCard on YouTube.com was interviewed by a local Memphis television station about John Calipari leaving the University of Memphis to take the head coaching job at the University of Kentucky. AceofSpadesCard or AOSC as I like to call him feels that he was misrepresented and made to appear as an angry fan. So he posted this video on YouTube to clear the air. I present to you AceofSpadesCard:
PS If you can find the original interview please post a link in the comment box.

Calipari Would’ve Stabbed Memphis In The Back For Free
April 1st, 2009It wasn’t about the money said John Calipari today at a press conference he held in front of his East Memphis home. According to Calipari, the University of Memphis was not only able to meet the Kentucky offer, but exceeded it. However that didn’t matter because coaching at Kentucky was his “dream”. Anyway check out the video and leave a comment.
Tigers on the hunt
April 1st, 2009It is reported that the University of Memphis started its search for a new head coach. But chances are your daughter’s YMCA coach isn’t going anywhere because the list of names the Tigers are looking at include the likes of Bruce Pearl and Rick Pitino. I personally think Pitino would be a great choice, but not just for his coaching and recruiting prowess, but for the fact that hiring him would be a slap in the face to John “Cut and Run” Calipairi or should I say John “Rick Pitino Wannabe” Calipari as he was once called.
